Gisi and I completed our second half marathon together this weekend, running a steady 6:53 per kilometer, talking throughout the race, running with friends who came out to cheer us on, and finishing with a respectable 02:25:05 which was just 16 seconds from our time last year, so very constant. The weather was much nicer than last year, clear skies and sun, just cool enough with a breeze to appreciate the plastic wrap we got in the finish, but during the race warm sun and cool air. On the way to the race and at the start we met three different neighbors from around where we live so it was like a small, home town race, very nice. The race was flat and straight, at 8K we had still only turned once, not the race with the most variety but a tour from the east side of the city to the west and back again, and well organised, plenty of water and no lines for the beer at the end! Gisela said her legs didn't really hurt the day after, and mine didn't either, even with my marathon last week, so it looks like our minimal winter training paid off.
let's do this thing!
half marathon splits still plastered on the back of my phone from last year!
