This morning I saw it was going to be 10°C in the evening, so packed my running clothes for another after-work Tiergarten 5K. The night was dark as usual but the air almost warm, lots of runners out this evening, more than one in shorts and a t-shirt. Arriving at my starting line at Brandenburg Gate, I didn't feel like it was going to be a record run tonight, but set my mind to get as low in the 24s as possible. At my turn-around point at Ben-Gurion-Straße I was under 17:00 so pushed it on the final two kilometers with a sprint at the end, unable to get into the 23s but came very close with a 24:08. I suspect the 24:00 barrier will be broken soon. My fastest post-high-school 5K was 23:02 in 2010, so I will have a new goal to look forward to once I go under the 24 mark. Perhaps if I can lose more poundage, I can get my speed down to 23:02, post-run weight was 76.4 kilos.
