28K Hauptbahnhof to Home Run through East Berlin
The kids and I picked my wife up at the train station around 14:00, so I wore my running clothes and just took off from there on a grand loop around East Berlin back home. The weather was decidedly cold at the beginning, the kind of cold weather where it takes about 10 minutes of running to even start to warm up, especially if you are wearing a t-shirt, and light drizzle. I ran along the S-Bahn to Berlin Alexanderplatz, a nice running route, not too many cars, and then up to find a hotel where a friend will be staying soon, then down through Berlin Mitte to the East Side Gallery and out of East Berlin over the Oberbaum Brücke into Kreuzberg, down through Treptower Park and then the standard way home via Gradestr. On the way through the I took a little detour to go see the building where Einstein first delivered his paper on his Theory of Relativity in 1915. Then it was the long run home back from East to West until I got to the Ullsteinhaus which is on the Teltow Canal which is also home turf again.
