14K After-Work Run with Timed Tiergarten 5K (24:52)
Took off after work around 17:20, right after checking the Australia-Peru and Denmark-France game, having bet on Australia and France at work, realized by the end of my run that I lost both. In any case, contrary to my World Cup betting accuracy, my run was very enjoyable. I took Storkower Straße out quite a far ways to Greifswalder Straße, then turned left which was then practically a straight run through Prenzlauer Berg and Berlin Mitte all the way to Brandenburg Gate, with an interesting jaunt through Ernst Thälmann Park. I found that the Fanmeile preparations had blocked my 5K starting line on Straße des 17. Juni, and so I simply started five meters to the left and ran on a parallel path through the park to the Siegessäule Stern, which worked out well. I might run that way from now on, as long as I'm running in daylight. I was glad to get a 24:52, finally under 25 again, hopefully on my way to under 24 at some point this summer. I took a Car2Go home from Tiergarten, as I needed to get home in time to watch the Nigeria-Argentina and Iceland-Croatia games, both of which I lost as well (!). In any case, Sunday is the Free University 10K Campus Run with Hannah and Gisi, should be fun.
