On January 1, I began training for the Regensburg Marathon on May 16, 2010.
My goal this year is to run a sub-4 marathon either at Regensburg in May or Berlin in September, both are flat and fast.

==trainingDay 2010-09-26 Berlin marathon, 05:01:04: had a good, solid run, nothing hurt excessively, just hammered after 35K as always and ran it in, indescribable feeling seeing the Brandenburg Gate and then running in the last 1K. Was rainy with lots of puddles, wet the whole race but refreshing. Nice to have done another marathon 8

==trainingDay 2010-09-09 Had time for a quick 5K after work, felt good at the beginning but was at an average 4:28 at the autobahn bridge, but throughout the rest of the run was able to run solid and faster so picked up a good 30 seconds from my last couple times, ran the last Bessemerstr. stretch in 3:30, also had a strong 3K warm down home. ==trainingDay 2010-09-03 Did a quick 5K after work on the way home again with 3K warmdown, was a bit behind on all my markers at the beginning but kept strong pace till the end, it's getting cooler here, nice to run in the non-heat, though. [[ ikeaLoop5K: 23:23 warmdown3K ]] 8
==trainingDay 2010-08-30 Had time for a 5K after work, ran off strong, and the watch said I was fast, had a 4:30 at the top of the ramp, an 11:30 at Priesterweg, 14:10 under the bridge and a 19:40 at the last corner. Had a nice pace on the warm down as well. Less than a month to the Berlin marathon, the weather has definitely changed: it's starting-school-and-marathon weather again, almost could have worn a scarf or sweatshirt today. ==trainingDay 2010-08-24 In Bad Homburg for a project for a couple days so took off tonight and did a one hour run up into the hills here and back down. Lots of fresh forest pine! [[ easyRun: 1:00:00 ]] 8

==trainingDay 2010-08-16 This was a hard run after 3 weeks vacation in which I ran only once. Great thing about running is you eventually have to pay the price and this was one of those "pay runs". Nice to be back out on the pavement, though. Need to get some mileage here these weeks to be able to run a decent race end of September in Berlin marathon. ==trainingDay 2010-08-03 Went on a 2-hour vacation run from Bansin up to Ueckeritz along the Baltic coast but through the forest. Got to the beach just in time to see the big ball of sun separate from the horizon and start the day. This was a beautiful run, the first half beautiful nature and the last half on the bike path along the highway just a time to get into a good pace and knock out an hour of early morning running. Cut into the forest at the Urlaub sign and got pretty lost but came out about 10 feet from our parked car! Very nice. [[ vacationRun: 2:00:00 ]] 8
==trainingDay 2010-07-22 Got out of work at 18:25 in time to do two 5K runs before meeting my friend Henry who joined me for the last 5K. Felt good on my first run but it was no record day, too much eating out and big pizzas, great Thai food and beer this week, good to work that off, legs feel a bit worn. Nice, cool weather today. ==trainingDay 2010-07-14 Ran after work at 18:00 when the day was not yet done being hot, ran my first 5K as fast as I could, but could not even get within a minute of my PB, amazing what the heat does to your time, I weighed less than 72 after my run, at least running in the heat makes you lose weight, this Berlin marathon should be my lightest ever. Starting up on my second run I realized I was exhausted from the first, ran 7 minutes slower, would be nice to keep as many of my 5Ks under 27:30 which is the magic time for each 5K if you want to run a sub-4 marathon. ==trainingDay 2010-07-12 A very hot day at work so waited till 19:00 to get off and run which, although the sun was down quite a bit, the air was a like an oven, felt strong running off at the start was keeping up with my record for the first half but by the time I got to the lake with the humidity coming off the water reminding me of Arkansas in the summer time, I became too sluggish but ran in hard for a decent hot day time. ==trainingDay 2010-07-07 Was as cooler but very sunny day today with brilliant green trees and blue sky, had a feeling I would break my 5K record in my afternoon run, ran hard and got my personal best (since my 21:21 high school best that is). First three runs were really fun, nice pace, half way through the fourth run I had leg breakdown, which is what I'm after, if I want to get a sub-4 this september, I need to push the leg breakdown past 3 and 4 hours.
