I switched my news consumption from daily online news to mostly weekly or monthly paper news publications in four languages (English, German, French, Spanish), and post them on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook in order to encourage more responsible use of these social media platforms. I switched my news consumption from daily online news to mostly weekly or monthly paper news publications in four languages (English, German, French, Spanish): The Economist, The New Yorker, The Guardian Weekly, Die Zeit, Courrier international, Écoute, Ecos, El Pais, and Revista de la Prensa, and others that I try out from time to time. The quality, range and sobriety of what I read has increased significantly. The Courrier international is particularly wide-ranging in that it reprints stories from over 900 newspapers from around the world, and so in one paper you get to read news from papers like the Los Angeles Times, the Denver Post, the Stuttgarter Zeitung, the Times of India and the Moscow News, all en français.
I post these excerpts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn in order encourage people to use social media for more serious discussion of political, religious, and ethical topics. If you find something here that you would like to discuss, simply download and post the graphic and your comment on
my Facebook page where I'm most active in discussions and we'll discuss it.
